What are the National Primary Drinking Water Standards?

| What
is Distillation?
Distillation is simply the process of heating water to it's boiling point, capturing and then condensing the pure steam to form pure distilled water. This process occurs naturally and is called the hydrologic cycle, or water cycle. This cycle of evaporation and condensation controls the distribution of the earth's water as it evaporates from bodies of water, condenses, precipitates, and returns to those bodies of water. Distillation removes harmful contaminants and leaves water tasting fresh and healthy. |
|||
| Why
is Distillation the Best?
Distillation is the only process that boils the water, which means that distillation kills bacteria, viruses and other biological contaminants. Distillation is also not dependent on the source water- the quality of distilled water is not related to the quality of the source water! It will produce consistent quality regardless of the quality of the source water. There is no drop in quality over time- distillation produces consistently high quality water glass after glass, day after day, and year after year. Distillation is endorsed by top doctors and nutritionists in books such as Fit for Life, Fit for Life 2, Optimum Sports Nutrition, Nutrition for Endurance, Prescription for Nutritional Healing and many, many more.

| What
do the Experts Say?
"The
only minerals that the body can use are the organic minerals. All other
types of minerals are foreign substances to the body and must be
eliminated. Distilled water is the only water that can be taken into the
body without damage to the tissues. " "There
are no essential nutrients dissolved in tap water which humans depend on
from this source for their survival or well- being. All essential
nutrients can be obtained from foods and proper dietary supplements." "The
only type of water that seems to be fit for consumption is distilled
water…Distillation is the single most effective method of water
purification." "Distilled
water is the world’s best and purest water!" "The
body's need for minerals is largely met through foods, not drinking
water." "The
greatest damage done by inorganic materials- plus waxy cholesterol and
salt- is to the small arteries and other blood vessels of the brain (75%
water). Hardening of the arteries and calcification of blood vessels
starts on the day you start taking inorganic chemicals and minerals from
the tap water into your bodies." |

| What
are Your Choices?
Tap Water is inexpensive and readily available, but it is treated with chemicals to make it potable, and not all of the contaminants are removed. Filtered Water removes only some of the contaminants, and requires frequent filter changes. Reverse Osmosis is a complex series of filters that squeeze water through a membrane to purify it. This is expensive, and it requires 8- 12 gallons to produce 1 gallon of purified water! Distilled Water is 100% pure water that is contaminant free. It is low cost and little waste- only 1 gallon of water can produce 10 gallons of pure water!

| What
are the National Primary Drinking Water Standards?
In 1974, Congress wanted to ensure that there was safe drinking water for all Americans so, they developed the Safe Drinking Water Act (S.D.W.A.). This Act directs the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.) to establish minimum National Drinking Water Standards, limiting the amount of various contaminants that threaten public health. In 1986 and 1996, Congress passed a set of amendments that expanded this protection provided by the Safe Drinking Water Act. These amendments set achievable levels of drinking water quality to protect your health. Only two substances for which standards have been set pose an immediate threat to health whenever they are exceeded: bacteria and nitrates. All others, while not posing an immediate risk, may prove harmful when ingested over long periods of time. (EPA 1994) |

| Primary
Standards List: How to Read the Symbols.
MCL means Maximum Contaminant Level. This is the amount considered "safe" to consume. MCLG means Maximum Contaminant Level Goal. This is an UNENFORCEABLE HEALTH GOAL equal to the maximum level of a contaminant which is not expected to have any adverse health effects over a lifetime of exposure and includes a margin of safety. TT means Treatment Technique required. Instead of a contaminant having MCL or MCLG, the E.P.A. can adopt a Primary Drinking Water Regulation that requires the use of a specific treatment method to be used to control a contaminant. The Agency has this option when it is not technically or economically feasible to determine how much of a contaminant is present if drinking water. |
